What is PRP Skin Regeneration Therapy?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) skin regeneration therapy is a regenerative medicine approach in which platelet-rich plasma (PRP) concentrated at high levels from the patient's own blood is extracted and injected into areas of skin concern. Platelets are rich in various growth factors that promote tissue repair and cell proliferation. When injected, they stimulate the production of collagen and elastin at the injection site, enhancing skin firmness, elasticity, and radiance from within.

Because it uses your own blood, the risk of allergic reactions and rejection is extremely low, making it a highly safe treatment. Scientific Evidence ─ Collagen Neogenesis Brought About by Growth Factors

A prospective comparative controlled clinical study published in Annals of Dermatology (2016) confirmed collagen neogenesis histologically in biopsied tissue in groups receiving intradermal PRP injection to the face, objectively demonstrating improvements in skin texture and elasticity (doi: 10.5021/ad.2016.28.6.718). Additionally, research in Burns & Trauma (2020) demonstrated that PRP significantly promotes fibroblast proliferation and migration, as well as epidermal re-epithelialization, and increases collagen deposition (doi: 10.1093/burnst/tkaa028).

Major growth factors contained in PRP include PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), TGF-β (transforming growth factor-β), VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), EGF (epidermal growth factor), and IGF (insulin-like growth factor). It is thought that through the combined action of these factors, more natural tissue regeneration effects are achieved compared to administration of single components (Stem Cell Research & Therapy, 2013, doi: 10.1186/scrt218).

Treatment Process

① Blood Draw: Approximately 20–30 ml of blood is drawn from the vein in the elbow. ② Centrifugal Separation: PRP is purified and concentrated using a dedicated centrifuge (Processing time: approximately 15–20 minutes). ③ Injection: Using an anesthetic cream or local anesthesia, carefully inject with a fine needle into areas of concern such as the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and neck. Total treatment time is approximately 60–90 minutes.

Downtime and Realization of Results

Mild redness, swelling, and bruising may appear at the injection site immediately after treatment, but in most cases subside within 3–7 days. Results begin to be felt starting 1–2 weeks after treatment as changes in skin texture and brightness, with most patients realizing the maximum effect 1–2 months after treatment when collagen production is in full effect. The duration of results varies by individual but is generally approximately 6 months to 1 year, with regular treatments (2–3 times per year) expected to maintain and provide cumulative benefits.

Combination with Other Anti-Aging Treatments
